“Sheerness - Bethel Chapel Sunday Schools - The annual services were held in the School-room, Hope-street, Mile Town, on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, January 23, 24, 25. The room was tastefully decorated for the occasion. On the first evening, which was as usual set apart for the teachers and friends, the Rev. W. H. Whitbread gave a selction of readings from John Ploughman's Pictures, illustrated by dissolving views. On the second and third - the children's evenings - dissolving views were exhibited, illustrative of 'The Wanderings of Little Nell,' and 'John Tregenoweth; his Mark,' Mr. W. T. Rule, superintendent of Mile Town School, and Mr. W. Jones giving the readings. About 1,300 attended on the three evenings.”
