“Shadbrook - Through the kindness of Rev. Dr. Tate and his familiy a treat was given to the Sunday scholars and teachers on Thursday, Jan. 13th. The children, numbering 130, sat down to a tea, and afterwards were greatly amused by a magic lantern exhibition by the Rev. J. S. Shaw, assisted by Dr. Tate. After the exhibition, the children assembled in the upper school-room, where two huge Christmas trees were placed, each scholar receiving a present from their illuminated branches. ”
