‘Intelligence’ in Sunday School Chronicle

“Stainers Congregational Sunday Schools - On Thursday, Decmeber 9th, a very happy evening was spent with the young children in connection with the above schools. The British Schoolroom being kindly lent for the occasion, was well filled, and an earnest address was given Mr. Geo. Coss on the 'Life of the Saviour, Jesus Christ'. The different scenes were impressed upon the children's minds by means of a magic lantern, kindly shown by Mr. Alder, and hymns appropriate to the pictures were sung by the children. The whole of the service was conducted by Mr. Cross in a truly devotional manner and was brought to a pleasant close by giving the children each as they retired, a bun and an orange.”
