“A Concert was given by the Temperance Glee Choir, in aid of the Union Funds, on Monday, Oct. 27, 1879, at Anerley, the local arrangements for which were very ably carried out by Mr. J. BENBOW. The Choir was conducted by Mr. W. MUNN. The Rev. G. Samuel presented 14 certificates to the successful competitors in the 'Worship of Bacchus' Examination. The Conversazione took place on Monday January 5th, 1880, in the Lecture Hall, Greenwich. There was a display of Curiosity kindly lent by Messrs. Wybroo, Richardson, Barton, Dow, Crisp, and others; display of rare Stones by Mr. J. Baxendale; a dissolving view lecture by Mr. F. Smith; and a concert conducted by Mr. J. E. Wates. Mr. F. Turner, of Lee, presented the Prizes and remaining Certificates to the successful competitors in the Examination on the 'Worship of Bacchus'.”
