“Burwash, Sussex.-A Temperance meeting, held at the school here on Tuesday, 21st, was well attended. Capt. Hankins, C.A., who has been doing excellent work at Salehurst, illustrated the wellknown history of 'Her Bennie' proved by means of Rector (Rev. C.F. Maude). At intervals, suitable hymns were thrown on the sheet, and sung most heartily. The sad story of 'Her Bennie' proved most attractive, and showed the evil of intemperance and the reward of honesty in a most striking manner. Prayer, and a cordial vote of thanks to Capt. Hankins brought a most enjoyable meeting to a close. Capt. Hankins will be much missed in these parts, but we wish him all success in his new sphere of work. The Rector.”
