“Peckham, St. Jude's.-On Sunday evening we had a bright service, with addresses by Capt. Comer an Mr. Snell, including a very pretty solo with a harp accompaniment by Mrs. Bateman, and a duet by Mrs, Birbridge and Mr. Clark. On Monday, we had the first Anniversary tea in connection with the Women's Social Work, which was commenced some time ago by Mrs. Comer. In the absence of the Vicar, one of the assistant clergy (Rev. Carus Steel) was present. Mrs. Scott, our Vicar's wife, and several lady friends presided at the table. On Tuesday evening, the juveniles of the C.A. Band of Hope were entertained through the kindness of Miss Cheshire, with a magic lantern exhibition. Mr. Hunt, of the St. Jude S.S., working and lending the lantern. The entertainment went off very well, and the little people were delighted. S.A.C. For Capt. Comer.”
