“Rodborough, Parish Church. - A fortnight ago, we had our first tea in connection with our Band of Hope, which is conducted by our C.A. Scripture Reader, Mr. Old. Over forty members sat down to a good tea and were afterwards entertained by our Rector, Rev. E. Lockyer, with a magic lantern followed by various games. Mrs. Lockyer and other ladies and gentlemen, kindly came forward to assist in amusing the young folks. At the close our Rector gave us a word of encouragement, followed by a few words from Mr. Old; thus closes a very happy and well spent evening. (...)”
