Reference

“'India Helps England': We are, thank God, holding our own in this rather difficult parish, and that means more than it reads at first sight, as ours is a shifting population. When people have been got hold they often move away, perhaps to the West End, and we see them no more. Yet, amidst much disappointment, we have also had much to encourage us lately, amongst other things, a visit from Capt. and Mrs. Hart and family who came for the week and gave us three Indian services, viz., Saturday night lantern services 'A Trip through India'; Sunday night, special Indian subjects; Monday, great Indian durbar with Indian songs and choruses. We were enabled by the above effort to place ₤1 10s to our new choir fund, but the most pleasing result was that many of our people arose at the after-meeting to reconsecrate themselves to God for his work.
