“'Just Stiles On the Road': A capital lantern service was given in the school, on the evening of Friday, by our bright young friend, Capt. Wilson, in connection with the Ashe Branch of the C.E.T.S. The subject was 'The Gipsy Girl and the Dying Saviour'. The captain gave his lecture rather under difficulties, for when the slides were unpacked, less than an hour before the meeting, lo! And behold!, there was no little book with the story, to guide the lecturer in his remarks and nothing but the pictures themselves to tell the tale. However, the gallant captain was not going to be daunted by this difficulty, and set to work to study the slides carefully, one by one, with the result that he gave a most interesting lecture, and made up the story as he went on.
