“'Living Stones First': On Tuesday a public tea was held in the Infant School, to celebrate the Anniversary of the Church Army Mission in Crane Moor. About 80 sat down to an excellent tea provided by the people of the village in a most liberal manner, showing their appreciation and sympathy in the Church Army Work. The vicar and family and Capt. Short (St. Peter's, Barnsley), were among the number. Captain Short gave an address while Tea was in progress. After tea was a lantern service, entitled 'Fighting for the Queen', during which solos were very effectively rendered by Miss Sanderson. The 'Lost Chord' and 'Ora Pro Nobis' were illustrated by the lantern. (...) The story was read very feelingly by Mrs. Dransfield (...).”
