“'On Board Ship': November the 17th saw Capt. Cresswell and Cadet Humphrey on board one of His Majesty's Training Ships, the Ganges, to hold a Lantern Service. The subject was the Torn Bible. The story was read by Capt. Cresswell, before 350 lads and fifty officers ans servants , who listened in death-like silence, nothign being heard but the splash of the waves against the ship's sides. (...)”
