“'Only One Way': There was an overflowing attendance at the tea at the schools. Tickets were sold at 4d. each, and were evidently popular, as no fewer than 119 persons came to the tea. Nearly all remained for the service of song and lantern lecture which followed. The title of the story was 'The Way to Heaven' (...). The lantern was kindly shown by Capt. Clarke and the story was read with much feeling by Mr. Johnson. The narrative furnished a good example of the power of a Christian influence and was much followed throughout with manifest interest'.”
