“'Half a Pie and Half a Bible': Saturday was a memorable day in the history of our corps. After preparations lasting over a month, about 200 friends sat down to o potato-pie supper (...). (...) Our vicar read the story (...) which was illustrated on the sheet by 30 slides. Everyone thouroughly enjoyed both the pies and the lecture and the unanimous testimony everywhere was 'It was champion'. This was manifest by the continous tinkling and chattering during supper, and the profound silence during the reading of the story. The singing of a solo by one of our sisters was much appreciated, and had a most beneficial effect in conveying the lesson the story was intended to teach.”

Notes
