GREIG, Captain   (fl. 1890s) – lecturer

‘The Church's Holy War’ in Church Army gazette

“'St. George and the dragon.' Brimingham, St George's. - It was with full hearts and many regrets that we let Capt. Greig, the C.A. Pioneer Missioner (and the Green Tent) leave us, for during his stay of eight weeks he had got hold of the St. Georgites by his straightforward talks and hard work, and the workers had rallied round him. The captain did not spare himself a bit, speaking at every meeting, sometimes singing a solo, and always leading the singing on his bazen trumpet. We had eight lantern services, which were the means of crowding out the tent. On Sunday evenings we had gospel temperance addresses and a musical programme. At our last Saturday meeting we had an open-air procession round the parish, and also at the indoor meeting, when several gave earnest appeals to the meeting to come over on the Lord's side and leave drink alone. The many who were blessed by God through the St. Georges's Pioneer Mission earnestly wish and pray that Capt. Greig my have God's blessing on him in his new work at Clifton. A C.A. Soldier, for CApt. Greig.”
