“'Bank Holiday in our Homes.' Clifton House, Women's Home. - On Good Friday afternoon there was a service in the chapel, consisting of a brief meditation on the Seven Last Words. In the evening, by the kindness of Miss Storey and Miss Prentice, a lantern enterntainment was given, illustrating the life of our Lord from the cradle to the cross, with explanatory readigs. Rooms one and two were thrown together by the opening of the folding doors, thus providing accomodation for the whole family of Clifton House, about fifty in number. Easter Sunday we observed as a happy holy day. At half-past nine in the morning there was a celebration of the Holy Communion in the chapel, administered by the Rev. G.C.Parr; [...] On Easter Monday was was laid asside at mid-day, and the afternoon was spent according to individual fancy. In the evening, lantern entertainment, illustrating the story intitled, 'Her Benny'; when about halfway through a break was made for refreshment, and at the close the general opinion was given that a very pleasant evening had been spent.”
