JERMY, Captain   (fl. 1890s) – lecturer

Reference
H. Wheeler, ‘The Church's Holy War’ in Church Army gazette

“'He hit us hard.' Urswick, Ulverton. - Thank God for the Church Army, and thanks to Capt. Jermy and his helper for their earnest work here. Many are the expressions of regret that their stay (on account of previous engagements with other parishes) has been so short. May they soon be able to pay us another and longer visit. The meetings have been well attended and much appreciated. The lantern lectures (especially that on the Passion) were very effectively rendered and beautifully illustrated. At the farewell meeting Capt. Jermy struck out in true soldier style, and hit us hard, but, as Englishmen, we love him all the better for it. May God bless him, and continue to make him a blessing to others, and grant unto each one of us (who have been aroused to a realization of our responsibilities) grace and strength that we may stand firm to our resolutions, and ever - in all things - show forth His praise. R.D.”
