ROWLANDS, Captain Rowland  (c.1855-1917) – lecturer

Reference
H. Wheeler, ‘The Church's Holy War’ in Church Army gazette

“'Pioneers at Manchester.' Moss Side, Manchester. - Through the kind invitation of Mr. And Mrs. Entwistle, 51, Princess Road, Moss Side, Manchester, a drawing room meeting was held and a lecture given by Capt. Rowlands illustrated by lantern slides; a goodly number came. Nurse Bradford spoke on the Women's Rescue Work, also Cadet Kerridge on his experience amongst the fruit pickers; the captain spoke on the work at the close. Mr. Entwistle said he had always taken a great interest in foreign missions, but he never thought until that night, that such a work was done at home. He hoped that all present would help his good work, thanking Capt. Rowlands for his lecture; a collection was made in the room, when £1 10s. was given to the pioneer work.”
