“'A New Text.' Royston. - The Services at the Church Mission Room near the station which have been of late chiefly carried on by Capt. Richardson, of the Church Army, and have proved very acceptable to large numbers at the north end of the town, were of a very special character on Harvest Festival Day. The Services for the day were Holy Communion at the Parish Church at 8 a.m., Bible Class at the Mission Room at 3.30 p.m., and a Special Evening Service at the Mission Room at 6.30. At this service the Mission Room was crowded, and a good many were unable to gain admission. The Lessons were read by Capt. Richardson, and an earnest Sermon was preached by the Vicar, from Judges iii.20, 'I have a message from God unto thee.' The Offertroy was for the Mission Room Fund. There was a Service on Tuesday, and on Thursday there was a Thanksgiving Tea and a Service of Song in the eveniing, on the subject of 'God's Farm,' illustrated with Lantern Slides. The Reading was given by the Vicar, and the views shown by Capt. Richardson. The room was crowded, and there were upwards of 100 at the tea. - Herts and Cambs Reporter.”
