“'A Welsh Singer.' Otley. - Special meetings have been held for the harvest. Capt. McLeod has been helped by Capt. T.H. Spicer, of the Leeds Labour Home, who was once connected with a Welsh troupe of vocalists, and possesses an excellent tenor voice. The room in Manor Square had been tastefully decorated with flowers, fruit and vegetables. The haystack made by Master Ralph Wilson, was also placed on the table in front of the reading desk. The services commenced with an Open-air Meeting near the chrch gates on Saturday night, when an inspiriting address was given by Capt. McLeod. A service of praise and thanksgiving was afterwards held in the Mission Room at which Acpt. Soicer sang, 'The holy City,' 'The Star of Bethlehem,' 'Ora pro nobis,' and 'The Better Land,' all of which songs were illustrated by means of a lime-light lantern. The services on Sunday commenced with a prayer meeting at seven o'clock, followed by Open-air Meetings near the Jubilee clock. An Indoor Meeting took place at three o'clock, and in the evening, the choir rendered the Service of Song, entitled 'God's Farm,' the room was filled to overflowing. On Monday evening a short meeting was held, after which the fruit and vegetables used in the decoration of the room were sold. - Local Press.”
