“'All hot - smoking hot!': On Staurday evening, Feb.12, we had our first Potato Pie Supper. We had been looking forward very anxiously for the time to come , for it was quite a novelty here. Our pies were the gifts of Church Army workers and friends. At 8 o'click they were put on the tables all 'smokinh hot,' in the presence of about 100 people. It was a sight o see the laughing faces as our VIcar's good wife and other C.A: workers served out the pies. Our Vicar was very well pleased with the sight of so many jolly faces. He said the pies were excellent; many wanted to know when we were having anouther supper. After supper we had a Lantern Entertainment, and the proceedings were brought to a close by our Vicar encouraging us in 'smoking hot' earnest words to go on with the good work we had begun in winning souls for Christ. We would again ask GAZETTE readers for their prayers, that spuls in this large parish of ours may be brought to Christ, and to God we will give all the glory. J.B., for Capt. Barton.”
