“Birmingham begining to move: [...] At our first Lantern Service we had about seventy, at the second 150, and at the last one 210. This is some improvement on 10 or 12 persons at an ordinary meeting, and the people are most attentive at these pictures. May God bless the lantern pictures and short addresses. This is what a big rough burly man who came to service told me the other day, 'That he couldn't bear to look at the pictures of Jesus on the Cross, it made him feel that he was a murderer and had nailed him there.' [...]”
