“We start afresh: A meeting of the members belonging to the Band of Hope (connected with the C.E.T.S.) took place on Tuesday, the 16th, and was well attended by the parents and friends of the children. The Entertainment took the form of a Lantern Lecture, which was given by Mr. Yates, a Cadet of the Church Army. The Band of Hope was re-started last December by Nurse Tanton, and already numbers over 70 members; and the numbers are steadily increasing every week. The pictures were shown very clearly by Mr. Hutchings, who brought his lantern for the purpose, and his efforts were well appreciated by the children and their friends. [...]”
