DAVEY, Captain William R. (1867-1941) – lecturer
BENNETT, Captain Herbert (1873-1949) – lecturer
“A committee of ways and means: On Monday, Jan, 18, we celebrated our first Anniversary. In the afternoon a Drawing-room Meeting was held at the Vicarage, by the kind invitation of the Vicar. Captains Davey and Bennett, and Nurse Crape, of Watford, spoke of the various departments of the C.A. work, especially the Nurse's work, as the work of nurse Sturtridge has been much owned by God during her stay here. The Meetings held by Nurse Crape here increased in numbers wonderfully of late, and there has indeed been a moving of dry bones. A Committee is being formed to put the work on a firmer footing and to find ways and means of providing the necessary for the work of the Nurse. At 6.30 the Public Tea was held, at which about sixty were present. Afterwards Capt. Davey gave a short Lantern Service, together with Capt. Bennett, Nurse Crape, and Nurse Sturtridge. We closed a very happy Meeting by singing 'God be with you.'”
