“'1897 begun in Prayer': We had a first-rate New Year Tea Party. After tea, we had a rather novel sort of C.A. Service, and we must say it was one of the most successful Serives that we have ever had; the large schools were crowded from top to bottom with a most attentive audience. The Services consisted of hymns, illustrated by a powerful limelight lantern, manipulated by our kind schoolmaster, Mr. Moore – a series of Tableaux Vivants, illustrating the following hymns - 'Jesus bids us shine' by the little ones of the Juvenile Brigade, 'Soldiers of Christ arise' by members of the Church Lad's Brigade and also a most beautiful series of Tableaux by two sisters, illustrating the 'Rock of Ages'.
