CARLILE, Miss   (fl. 1890s) – lecturer

HIRST, Miss   (fl. 1890s) – lecturer

“A woman’s work. Liverpool, Stoneycroft. – We had a very interesting day here on Tuesday the 3rd. In the afternoon there was a Drawing-room Meeting at the Vicarage, at which about thirty ladies were present. Miss Carlile and Miss Hirst gave interesting details, both as to the general work and as to that specially carried on among women by women. In the evening we had a Lantern Lecture in the Parish Rooms. The Vicar, the Rev. E.N. Hoare, took the chair, and introduced the deputation in a few words which he spoke of the work that had been carried on in his parish by the Church Army during the last seven years. Miss Carlile exhibited a number of excellent slides, calling upon the severeal Nurses whoo were present including our own Nurse Fiher, to address the meeting. AT the conclusion, a number of sacred slides were shown, and Miss Hirst sang with great feeling and expression. Altogether, a most delightful evening was spent, and the audience, both old and young, seemed deeply impressed.”
