DAVEY, Captain William R. (1867-1941) – lecturer
“A BRASS DRUMMER’S OPINION. Oxford. – We have had a special week-end visit of Capt. Davey, from Headquaters. He gave two Lantern Lectures, one for the children and the other for adults. The Rector was present, and made a few kind remarks about the work of both sides. Since Capt. Parham and his wife took charge here, there has been a mighty, and we hope a lasting, wark done in the parish of St. Ebbs. We have got a splendid Brass Band, and all are willing to parade the streets to attract the people into our Mission Hall, to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ proclaimed. Kind friends come in to help from one of the colleges. We have our usual Gospel Meeting. Sunday at 7 oclock, Tuesday and Thursday at 8 o’clock, and on Saturday a bright Gospel Temperance Meeting, winding up with a grand Coffee Supper.”
