“A flying visit. Slaugham, Sussex. – Capt. Davey paid us a short visit on Feb.8. In the evening, at Pease Pottage Mission Room, he gave a most interesting account of the Church Army work, illustrating his Lecture by Magic Lantern views. The Chairman (Rev. G. McDermott) referred to the excellent work which was being done amongst them by Capt. Hann, the resident Officer in the Parish. Capt. Davey gave earnest and helpful addresses at the Mission Room on the Sunday morning to the children, and at the usual service in the evening. On Monday evening he repeated his Lecture at the Hardcross Mission-Room, to an appreciative audience. The Rector (Rev. R.Addisopn Watson) presided. The total amount collected on behalf of the C.A: was £1 3s. 6d. Rev. G.McDermott, Curate.”
