“A Labour Home Church: We have just had a visit from Capt. Grummett, who is conducting meetings round this neighbourhood, and giving lectures, illustrated by the Optical Lantern. On Wednesday evening, in St. Catherine's Chapel, a service was conducted by the Rev. W. David, Chaplain of the Home, when the prayers, hymns, and 'Life of St. Paul' were beautifully illuminated on the sheet by the aid of the lantern. On Wednesday evening, the Rev. J. Pitkin, Chaplain of the prison, read the prayers, after which, over fifty slides of the work of the C.A. were shown, and an interesting lecture given by Capt. Grummett, who finished his visit by conducting a Mission Service on Sunday Evening in the Chapel at half-past six. Attendances were very good, and collections were made on behalf of the Social Scheme. [...]”
