“Christmas at Oxford: […] On New Year's Day we were again supplied with bounteous fare and cards - a large tree being decorated with lanterns, candles, oranges, tobacco, etc., from which every man received a large handkerchief. At the close a Magic Lantern Entertainment - subject - 'Christmas in Paradise.' Several distinguished guests came and cheered us with their company and counsel. The Brothers expressed their thanks in a warm and hearty manner.”
