“'Without cant.': The C.A. Van and Officers spent a fortnight in Spreyton and Hittisleigh. I was greatly pleased with their work, setting forth the truths of the Gospel., without cant, in a thoroughly Church tone, but without any want of charity towards Dissenters. They were listened to with attention by the latter class, and their services were very much crowded. The Lantern Services were especially popular, and calculated to excite the best feelings of the spectators. It is earnestly desired that the Officers may be able to pay us another visit for long.”
