‘The Church's Holy War’ in Church Army gazette

“To the rescue: on Wednesday, October 10th, at 8p.m., a large meeting was held in Rugby Town Hall, which was presided over by Deaconess Buchanan, Associate in the Church Army Union, and Hon. Local Sec. The object of this meeting was to show the Church Army Rescue Work by limelight views. The Rev. M. Morgan was unable to attend with the lantern and views, therefore, Capt. Batstone, from Dudley, and Capt. Caughey took the meeting. Capt. Batstone spoke of the Church Army Labour Homes, and how our poor tramps are rescued from the London casual wards or work-houses, he was listened to very earnestly by 400 people. Afterwards Capt. Caughey gave a very earnest address. We believe God's blessing has been given to the work here, and are much cheered to see it, and the work of our C.A. Associates. ”
