Reference

“New clerical friends for the C.A.: Within the last few weeks we have had both a very successful meat and potato pie supper and tea party. At the supper about a hundred and thirty sat down to partake of the meat, vegetables, puddings, and tarts, all of which had been kindly given. After supper Capt. Harden of Blackburn entertained us with his lantern, showing many beautiful pictures illustrating our Saviour's life from the manger to the Cross. On Sunday night the room was crowded, when Capt. Harden gave a very impressive address on the Prodigal Son, illustrating in by his lantern. The word spoken to the ear and the pictures shown to the eye touched many hearts, a great number staying to the prayer meeting. ”
