“Highbury.-At a Dissolving View lecture given in connection with this society a pleasing, although unexpected feature, was the presentation by lady, Mrs. Schwartz, of a handsome silk banner bearing the name of the Band of Hope and a motto in gold letters. The managers of the meeting, taking advantage of the enthusiasm aroused by this incident, appealed for funds to purchase the instruments necessary for a fife and drum band, and so successful was the appeal, that before the close of the proceedings, the whole amount required was raised. ”
