“The Exeter and West of England Photographic Exhibition, held under the auspices of the Exeter Camera Club at the Barnfield Hall, and formally opened yesterday afternoon by the Mayor [...] is a wonderful feast for all interested in the art of photography[...] The international open classes, embracing some three hundred prints and lantern slides, far surpasses in point of interest anything of the kind previously seen in the West.. [...] In all about six hundred prints and lantern slides are on exhibition. [...]
[...] The awards in the class for lantern slides in colour were made as follows: -- Silver medal, 'Silver Birches,' Mr W. Scrutton, Leeds; bronze medal, 'The Parrot,' Mr Ronald Rigby, St Annes-on-Sea; certificates, 'Blossom,' Mr Scrutton, and 'Roses,' Mr Rigby. The best exhibits in the class for lantern slides in monochrome were: Bronze medal, 'In Tunis,' Rev. H.O. Fenton, Dunedin, N.Z.; certificates, 'A Shy Boy,' Mr H.T. Parrish, Handsworth, and 'Jay at REst,' Mr T.M. Fowler, Barnsley. [...]
