ROWLEY, F.R. (1868-1939) – lecturer
“A lecture was given in the Alfred Miller Institute, by Mr F.R. Rowley, F.R.M.S. (Curator of the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter), on 'The Microscope at the Seaside'. The lecture was illustrated by a limelight lantern, but the feature of the evening was a series of 'transparencies', that is to say coloured representations of sea animals drawn from life on transparent material, so that a powerful electric light shining from behind produced a very beautiful effect.
