“Dr Solly showed a large number of slides of Butterflies and Moths with their caterpillars and chrysalides. He also described the places in which he had taken them and the plants upon which the caterpillars usually fed.

Dr Bolderston showed slides taken in Switzerland illustrative of the geological formations and aspects of peasant life. His descriptions of the circumstances in which they were taken were much appreciated.

Mr Marshall brought a slide showing a volanic neck in Hannaborough Quarry, as igneous outbreak near Hatherleigh, and gave a very interesting discourse on volcanic action in Devon and in the lower Rhine district.”
