“Aberdeen District Independent Order of Rechabites. - The annual social meeting was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall on Saturday evening. [...] There was a large attendance. After tea had been served, the chairman addressed the meeting, and gave a resume of the work done by the district during the year, showing that the membership and funds had both increased satisfactorily. An ineresting programme was then submitted, and thoroughly enjoyed. Songs were sung by Misses M. Donald and Millar, and Messrs J. A. Goodlad, J. C. Mitchell, and Wm. Fraser. Cornet solos were tastefully rendered by Mr. J. Ironside, and Mr J. Watson contributed two recitations, 'The Fireman's Wedding' and 'The Road to Heaven,' the latter being illustrated by limelight views. In the course of the evening, a cinematograph exhibition by Mr. J. Lizars, Bridge Street, was given, which delighted all present. [...]
