“On Tuesday evening the Rev. R. C. Oake, Curate, gave an interesting address illustrated with dissolving views, on 'John Bunyanʻs Holy War,' including the siege of Man-Soul, in the Mission Chapel, Caroline-street, before a large and appreciative audience, including the Rector (Rev. F. Pilcher), Mrs. Pilcher, and family. He also produced series of beautifully executed slides illustrative of the Parable of the Prodigal Son, and other views were also shown, amongst which was a short set entitled 'The Road to Heaven' illustrating a very touching story of a poor little city waif. Suitable solos and other sacred songs descriptive of the subjects shown on the sheet were sung by friends […]. During the event light refreshments were handed round. A pleasant and enjoyable evening was brought to a close by heartily singing the hymn 'Safe in the arms of Jesus,' and prayer. Mr. D. Macdonald managed the slides in an efficient manner
