MANBEY, Reverend G.H., M.A. (1855- after 1898) – lecturer
THOMPSON, Howard (fl. 1890s) – lantern operator
C.E.T.S. Prittlewell Branch – organiser
“In connection with he Prittlewell branch a lecture of a very interesting character, entitled 'Martyrs of the Christian Church,' was given by the Rev. G.H.Manbey, M.A., on Tuesday Dec. 6th, in the St. Albans Mission Room. To illustrate the martyrs a series of slides were exhibited by magic lantern and were much appreciated by the audience, the room being exeptionally well filled. The first part dealt with those who suffered Martyrdom from St. Stephen down to Latimer and Ridley, whilst the concluding half was occupied with views of the different massacres that took place in recent years in Amerika and other provinces ruled over by the Sultan of Turkey. Votes of thanks were accorded to the Rev. G.H.Manby for his lecture, and to the hon. sec., Mr. Howard Thompson, for operating the lantern.”
