“An inaugural meeting was held in the schollroom on Friday, Oct. 14, when a large audience assembled to hear the organizing secretary give a Lantern Lecture on the 'History of Drinking Customs in England'. At the close of the meeting the Vicar, the Rev. W.R. Raven-Hart, announced that a Band of Hope was about to be formed, and hat he hoped an Adult Branch would follow later on . Upwards of 40 names were given in as those of intending members”
