Reference

“On Thursday evening last the schools in Friar's Walk presented a very animated apperance, the occasion being the fisrt tea and entertainment in connection with the above Sunday School Band of Hope. After partaking of a bountiful tea, to which full justice was done, the members engaged in various games for a short time. Upon re-assembling, a most interesting programme was introduced, consisting of a lantern lecture by Mr. Davis (Police Curt Missionary), interspersed with songs and recitations, every item being capitally rendered, and duly appreciated by the large gathering of parents and friends, who had responded to the committee's invitation.”
