“The members opened their winter session with a Service of Song, entitled 'The Torn Bible'. The story was read by the superintendent, and illustrated by hymns, sacred songs, recitations, and lantern slides. Miss Nickels sang 'Ora pro nobis' very beautifully, and Miss Mabel Budd recited 'I am Kneeling at the Threshold' very feelingly. The hymns, which were sung by the children, were intelligently rendered, and made the service impressive. Mr. Cooke worked the lantern, and Miss Clarke officiated at the piano. There was a very large attendance of members, and considerable interest was excited in the meeting owing to the children being asked to invite their parents and friends. A considerable number of parents and friends accepted the invitation, and enjoyed the Service of Song very much.”
