“On Ash Wednesday Mr. Abbey, for the third time, gave the first of the Lenten addresses in the Parish Church. There was a good attendance, and the collection amounted to ₤1 0s 4d, and was given to the Diocesan funds. On the following morning Mr. Abbey addressed the school children, and in the evening there was a crowded room to hear a lecture by the Diocesan Secretary, which was illustrated by limelight views. The collection , ₤1 1s 9d, was given in aid of the work in the Diocese.”
