“The first Church Temperance meeting was held bin the Rectory Reading Room on Wednesday last. Mr. John Abbey, the Diocesan Secretary, attended, and gave a lime-light lecture on the history and work of the Society. The Rector, the Rev. A. Jones, presided, and st the close of the meeting thanked the lecturer, and said he should like to form a branch for the parish. Sixteen persons gave in their names, and a branch will be formed forthwith. The collection was handed to the Diocesan Secretary for extending the work in the diocese”
