BALSON, F.J. (1845-1921) – lantern operator
MEDCALF, Reverend C. (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
C.E.T.S. Salisbury Branch – organiser
“At the next meeting Mr. Balson gave a magic lantern entertainment on the 'slums' of some of the large towns, caused mainly by drink. The Rev. C. Medcalf gave the readings between. This also was exceedingly good, and the children gave three cheers for Mr. Balson for his kindness on their behalf. The Committee have appointed captains from among the children belonging to the Band of Hope, who are asked to be responsible for the behaviour and good attendance of their classes, and Mrs. Saloway, Miss Stickland and Miss Reed have offered a prize to that captain who wins the most recruits.”
