THATCHER, John Wells (fl. 1870s-80s) – lecturer
“Mr. John W. Thatcher exhibited the views and delivered the lecture illustrative of 'Church Temperace Work', at the above Hall, on Thursday evening Nov. 16. The hall was very full, many having to stand during the lecture, which was well received and appreciated. Upon the picture of the 'Street Stall' being shown, the Vicar, the Rev. W. Martin, expressed his intention of having a Street Stall for his parish very soon. (...) At the close of the lecture the Vicar made a few telling remarks, and after the singing of the evening hymn (thrown upon the sheet), the proceedings terminated.”
