GITTENS, H. (fl. 1870s-1900s) – lecturer
“Homelands, Broadstairs - To signalise the success of the third season of the Holiday Home for Young Women in Senior Classes of London Sunday Schools, a reunion of visitors to the Home during the past summer took place at Upton Chapel, Lambeth -road, on Saturday last. After a conversational hour, Rev. J. B. Barraclough, M. A. , president of the South Auxiliary, spoke a few words of hearty welcome. Mr. W. T. Robinson (hon. secretary) gave an interesting account of the season's work, showing that 250 visitors had been accomodated at the Home, and that abundant testimony had been received from all parts of London as to the helpfulness of the holiday spent there. Mr. H. Gittens (treasurer) gave some further particulars and experiences of the life at Homeland, illustrated by limelight views. He also stated that the furniture was now all paid fir and that energy must in future be directed towards the increase of subscriptions for the maintenance fund. ”
