“Plymouth - Interesting gatherings took place at Plymouth on Jan. 26th and 27th, when Mr. H. Hurrell, the superintendent of the Mutley Baptist Sunday School, and Mayor of the town, entertained some sixteen hundred aged poor in the Guildhall. The noble hall never looked better when receiving 'Prince' or 'Hero', that it did when the humble guests who at five o'clock took their seats at the bountifully-laden tables. During the tea-hour Mr. A. Groser gave selections on the organ, and Sergeant Ough on the cornet. The Mayor and Mayoress passes around the tables chatting pleasantly with the guests, followed by bearers of good fare for future use. After a few words of welcome from the Mayor, a cinematograph exhibition, varied by sweet, old-time songs greatly pleased the audience.”
