“Torquay - The annual social gathering of the junior classes of the Upton Vale Sunday School was held on Friday, Jan 20th. About 250 partook of tea in the Upton Vale school-room, after which tables, & c. were cleared away. Various games were indulged in; whilst in the infants' classroom a magic lantern entertainment was given by Mr. R. Narracott. Prizes for attendance and good conduct were given then presented by the pastor (Rev. W. Emery), after which fruits, sweets, &c. were served all round. A most enjoyable evening concluded with a parade of the 1st Torquay Company of the Boys' Brigade. ”
