NEWBURY, George (fl. 1890s) – lecturer
Free Church Sunday School, Salisbury – organiser
“Salisbury - Free Church Sunday School - On Wednesday 21st, the annual New Year's treat was given to the scholars, when a very pleasant evening was spent by them. Several adult friends joined the party. After tea, various games were indulged in till half-past seven, when Mr. George Newbury, the superintendent, entertained the young folks with a magic lantern exhibition illutrative of Mrs. Sewell's story rhyme of 'Mother's Last Words', the minister reading the story as the show proceeded. At the close a hymn was sung, and each child on leaving was presented with an orange and a bun.”
